Thank You

I want to acknowledge another new follower! V-Dizzle thank you for joining me in My Day! It surprises (and delights) me when that little number goes up one lol. I really appreciate all who are supporting me in my journey :)
Speaking of new followers, Tricia joined My Day yesterday. I swung over to her blog and she is actually in a blogger contest. It only takes 1 minute. If you can- help her out :) Here's a link to her post about it.
http://enduranceisntonlyphysical.blogspot.com/2010/04/pledge-for-better-health-and-giveaway.html
follow her instructions (it's so simple) all you do is make a pledge. My pledge is to walk at LEAST 7 miles every week. That is an average of 1 mile per day (less if I keep up the 3 miles on Tuesdays!) Not only will it help her out, but the pledge we make is great motivation also!!!

Here's My Day:
Breakfast: (180) Bagel THIN with 1/3 less fat cream cheese
Lunch: (200) 1 cup taco soup, 1 cup FF skim milk (I'm not sure of the calories, next time I make it I will measure it all and find out the exact calories per cup and record it on the recipe)
Dinner: (1104) Chicken Wrap, 17 french fries, 2 tbs natural ketchup, 1 cup FF skim milk
Snack: (330) about 2 cups of Honey Smacks with about 1 1/2 cups FF skim milk
Drink: (200) 9.5 oz Beamount Iced Coffee- french vanilla
Snack: (17) 1 cracker
Total Water: 35 oz
Total Calories: 2031
I knew we where having the wraps for dinner, so I tried to eat lighter the rest of the day. Definitely room for improvement! I did NOT need the giant bowl of cereal for one thing! I would like to start making chicken wraps healthier, these are Ray's chicken wraps- DELICOUS but not healthy. He melted about a cup of cheese on my tortilla for one thing!!! lol, I let him know that's to much for me now though :)

Treadmill: 22 minutes/ .73 mile

Before I go, I have to thank you Asphyxiated Emancipation and Tessa for your comments. I really do feel like I have support and it pushes me to do better. Thank you both.

AE asked if I sabotage myself, because deep down I don't think I deserve this. Deserve to be healthy and to have a better life. At first it was an automatic NO- that's not it... But I have thought about it today and I don't know for sure... In the past, why have I let it get so out of control? DID I subconsciously sabotage myself??? I think the answer might be yes... The more I thought about it, the more clear it became... I never stuck with loosing weight, and gained so many unhealthy eating habits, and never changed them... I WAS sabotaging myself... I don't think it was because I believed I didn't deserve better, I think it was because I just didn't have the confidence that I could do anything about it. I didn't have any support, I didn't have the will power... I just thought I wasn't strong enough to change. So I would just say "Why bother." BUT that's the old me.

This is the new me, and I am still sabatoging myself... now it's because of habit, and an addicton to fast food... but that is going to stop! Even though I fell off the wagon this last week... I still want this SO bad... So I got RIGHT back on... I have the support of my fiance this time, AND the people that support me here. I do not feel so alone in my struggle because I have you to go through it with. I have the support and knowledge that others are struggling just like I am, and getting through it! I have motivation! This time I KNOW I can do this, and I will not let anything, even deep down within myself, tell me otherwise.

I know I deserve this. And my fiance deserves to be able to be proud of me. Most important my son deserves a healthy mother that will be there for him. It will be a long journey full of ups and downs but I CAN do it, and I WILL.

Weekend...almost....over...

It's Sunday, so tomorrow is weigh in for Tessa's Challenge. I have to be good today!!!
Today also starts my NO FAST FOOD for a week goal. I know I can do it :) My fiance heated up leftovers for lunch, and is smelled SOOO good. I didn't even want it though... well kind of... but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. There is still more left, but I know I can leave it alone :)

Here's My Day:
Breakfast: (200) Beaumont Iced coffee 9.5 oz- Mocha
Lunch: (388) Tuna Sandwich(1 can tuna, 1tbs miracle whip, 1/8 cup sharp cheddar, hot pepper rings on whole wheat toast) 5 baby carrots, 1 tbs light ranch. Water
Snack: (140) Fiber Plus Bar- Dark Chocolate Almond. Water. 1 slice of an apple (my sons)
Drink: (110) 8 oz of V8 Fusion
Dinner: (710) 2 chicken tacos(one hard shell one tortilla) with lettuce, cheese, salsa. about 1/2 cup of re fried beans, 1 1/2 cup of FF skim milk
Total Water: 50 oz
Total Calories: 1548

We had left over shells (and always have tortillas) from last taco night. If you remember, it was my total taco binge... oh the horror.... anyway lol. I have a lot of chicken I got on sale last week so I decided to boil it, shred it and make it with taco seasoning. It came out pretty good, but not as good as beef. Maybe that helped me control myself. That and the fact that I didn't want a repeat of the last taco night!!! ALSO, I used my pizza rule :) ONE taco on the plate. To have another I had to get up, prepare it and sit back down and eat it. After that I was actually full :)

Treadmill: 21 minutes/ .70 mile    5 min of that with 2 LB weights
Crunches: 110 (50, 15, 15, 15, 15)
Extra Exercise: 30 non-jumping jacks with 2 LB weights

We had a scare today.
I was going to have my mother in law(fiance's mom) over for some taco soup tonight. We got a call that she had called another of her sons to come get her from church because she wasn't feeling well. He knew it was bad if she was going to leave her car there, he went to get her. When he got there she was already in an ambulance, her speech was slurred and they were taking her to the hospital. We were so scared. I thought she had a heart attack.
She was only at the hospital for about 1/2 an hour and they sent her home. It was her diabetes! She hasn't been taking care of herself as well as she should be I guess, and her blood sugar was to high...
Thankfully she is fine now, she ate and was going to take a nap. She is just really tired so we'll make her dinner another day... I'm just so glad she is ok.
It makes me think though, I JUST mentioned Friday how I am afraid I might have diabetes or be getting close, and then this happens... it's the first time she has had problems really, NEVER had to go to the hospital before... My fiance is 29, and he was sitting here terrified he might loose his mother... If I don't stick with this, and make more changes to improve my health, my son will get a call just like that. Except it could be worse... and he will probably be younger then 29.
I have lost 27 pounds so far and am more determined then ever to stick with this and really change my life.

The Weigh In, The Buffet, and The Food Revolution

THE WEIGH IN:
First we'll start with the good news. My new weight is...
Woooo Hoooo!!! That's a 3.8 Pound Loss this week!!!
My Totals for the WEEK: 3 hours 15 minutes/6.45 miles on the Treadmill, 300 Crunches.

We had a great day. We went to see How To Train Your Dragon in 3D and we all enjoyed it. I was impressed with the 3D, more then the other movies we've seen in 3D. We went to Old Country Buffet afterwards, because it is my son's favorite place and we never go there... I was pretty nervous about it. I actually looked it up last night and they have nutrition fact sheets right on there site, and it was SO easy to count the calories. So that was really nice.
THE BUFFET:
So I got my first plate... kind of a sample plate. I walked around and really thought about what I wanted and only got a little of each thing. I was so surprised at how good the New Orleans Bourbon St Chicken was!!! With the rice, it was SO good. The rice must have been the Cajun dirty rice. So I ended up getting another 1/2 plate. This one with more rice and chicken and some broccoli salad. I left most of the salad on the plate. Then I went and got nachos from the taco bar. And that should have been it... but there was dessert. I got a plate and went a little crazy I guess... I pretty much put anything that looked good on it. I just took VERY small portions of the stuff and got back to the table and looked at it LOL. So I only ate 1 or 2 bites of most of it. Except the ice cream and hot fudge cake, I did eat that. Oh and the tiny brownie. I know it was a lot of food, but all in all I thought I did ok, I left food on every plate... BUT then I got home and looked at it all and counted all the calories... Yeah... Not so good. I decided that buffets are just to much for me to handle- I should really just stay away from them for now!!!! I am seriously going to try and stay away AT LEAST till the end of Tessa's challenge :) That's a good goal I think!
So I wasn't hungry for the rest of the day. Just really thirsty so that's good I guess.

Here's My Day:
Breakfast: (435) 1 egg and 1/8 cup shredded cheese on sourdough english muffin,1 small sausage patty, 1 cup FF skim milk
Lunch: (2086) PLATE ONE: Bourbon chicken, Cajun rice, 1 roll, cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes w/chicken gravy, 3 potato wedges PLATE 2(half plate) serving of bourbon chicken and dirty rice, tiny amount of broccoli salad PLATE 3(half plate) 7 tortilla chips w/ taco meat, nacho cheese, sour cream, salsa about 6 oz sprite DESSERT PLATE: 2 bites of cherry cobbler and bread pudding. tiny brownie. Hot fudge sundae cake with ice cream. about 8 oz  chocolate milk. (two turtle doves and a partridge in a pair tree!)
Dinner: nothing
Drink: (200) Beaumont Iced Coffee- Mocha (cheaper store brand version of Frappuccino)
Total Water: 54 oz
Total Calories: 2721

Treadmill: 20 minutes/.67 miles with 2 LB weights for 5 minutes of it
Crunches: 100

FOOD REVOLUTION:
WARNING this is about a show I watched, I rambled quite a bit, so if you already saw it or just don't care, you don't have to waste your time- I know it's alot to read LOL!!!
I just had to mention this show I watched tonight on ABC, I hope you had a chance to watch it! I thought it was really good. It really makes you think. It's called Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. It is about a chef (Jamie Oliver) who goes to a town called Huntington. I think it is in Virgina, maybe West Virginia... anyway- it is the most obese/unhealthiest city in the united states, maybe the world. He wants to change this by making people go back to cooking natural foods and getting rid of all the processed stuff. Oh my goodness- Soooo much processed stuff. I am not in a position to judge at all, I am guilty of having lots of processed foods in my house... but the family he is working with, that's ALL they eat. The whole family is VERY over weight and I felt especially bad for the little girl, she is obese and I thought about 7- but she was only 4! Jamie was concentrating on the 6th grader, and trying to teach him to cook and really wants to help him. And the kid is all for it!!! Which was awesome.
He brought the whole family to the doctor and had the boy tested for diabetes because of warning signs. A warning sign was darkness of his neck... which I have never heard before. AND something I have... which really scares me... as I said before I don't go to the doctor because I don't even want to know- but this really did make me think. i hope that if I do have diabetes I can reverse it by continuing to change my eating habits and keep loosing weight. I hope I don't have it and will save my self from getting it at all.
I know I'm rambling, but a lot of this show really opened my eyes and surprised me. My son is also over weight. He isn't as big as these kids were- but if I were to keep up my bad habits he could very well get there. He knows I am trying to loose weight and get healthy. He knows that I am changing ALL of our eating habits so that he can be healthy too. I don't want him to be self conscious, but I don't want him missing out on life because of his weight either. So he knows I want him to loose weight. I have been very careful about talking to him about it (unlike my mother) so that he doesn't reject it. I tell him I love him and I don't care how big he is. It doesn't make any difference. I tell him that I just want him to be HEALTHY. And that I don't want him to grow up and be like me. Not because he will be fat, but because he will be unhealthy, not be able to do anything without being in pain and out of breath. I hope I am doing the right thing with him...
Anyway, back to the show! The main thing Jamie Oliver was concentrating on was the school food. It is SO ridiculous!!! The lunch ladies don't like him because he's in their kitchen telling them how unhealthy the food is... Now, it is understandable to a point, I mean, it's one thing to say "hey this is the best we can do with our budget and we are not in charge of what we serve..." but one lunch lady was just SOOO defensive and fighting him the whole show!!! It's ALL processed food, yet she was offended when called a lunch lady!!! She wants to be called a cook.... WHATEVER. So he asked her if she even knew what the ingredients mean, and she says "Beef- the first ingredient" or "potatoes- the first ingredient" and when asked about the rest of the unidentified ingredients, it didn't matter to her! Instead of just saying maybe your right- she was acting like it's all healthy the whole show! She said the potato pellets are a cooks best friend... when he first tried to serve healthy food and it failed she LAUGHED at him. I just couldn't get over her- she really is a piece of work.
The kids of the town are heading for obesity and it's not there fault at all... He did an experiment that ALWAYS works in England he said. He showed a group of kids all the parts of a raw chicken, and took the gross leftover pieces and they all agree that it's nasty and unhealthy. He grinds it up to "eeewwws and grosss" and makes chicken nuggets out of them. and when asked if they would eat them, they ALL said yes!!! He said it was the first time the experiment failed! When he went into a classroom and tested the kids about vegetables, they didn't even know the names of ANY of them!!! Not even tomatoes or potatoes! I just couldn't believe it!
Anyway, this ended up alot longer then planned LOL, I think I'll put a warning at the top LOL! and it's almost midnight so I'll end it! I hope it comes on again next friday. I really want to see if he helps this town, and if he helps the boy loose weight. K, I gotta go!!!!

So You've Started a Blog- what's next?

Well, I did it! I started my own Blog. I'm not sure how this will go, I might just be writing it for myself, and that would be just fine :) I really enjoy reading the blogs I am subscribed to, and if anyone enjoys reading mine that would be great! I would love to inspire others like others have inspired me. Otherwise it will just be a record of my weight loss and whatever else I feel like writing about...

I guess I should introduce myself in case anyone is reading lol. My name is Tina. I am 28 and have been over weight my whole life. After I had my son I steadily gained every year and have been "obese" for sometime now. I have tried dieting and nothing ever worked. This time is different though. While I have always been over weight, now I FEEL very unhealthy. It is hard to do simple things with out my back killing me and running out of breath. I never go to the doctor. Honestly I don't want to know... if I have diabetes or anything else like that I don't even want to know. I don't want to be on all kinds of drugs and I don't need to pay a doctor to tell me how fat I am. I NEED to loose this weight.

It makes me sick to think of all the things I have missed out on, and mostly that my son has missed out on because of my weight. I need to loose the weight to be the best mother I can be, and make sure I'm around a while! I also want to be the woman my fiance deserves. I want him to be proud of me. Last but not least, I would finally be happy and comfortable in my own skin!!!

I am not on a diet. Since January 1st I am trying to change my life. For good. I have been eating smaller portions and getting more exercise. I know i need to do better, and I will. I am no expert and will do the best I can. (Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.) Slowly but steady.

This blog is going to be nothing but the truth, whether it's pretty or not!!! I am not perfect, but one thing I am, is Honest.
So if anyone is reading this- thank you!!! I can use all the support I can get.
And if not, then it's just us 3! Me myself and I! Either way, here we go!!!
